THE ULTIMATE YELLOWSTONE GUIDE

Please use this Yellowstone Guide to plan an amazing vacation. Gardiner offers year round activities and we would love to help you plan and connect to them. Some of these activities could be dangerous and should be done with caution. Enjoy at your own risk.

MUST DO:

  1. Gardiner’s Visitor Center is located on Park Street just before you enter the gate. The good people there will answer all questions that you still might have even after reading this.
  2. Rafting - Whitewater rafting id available in Gardiner in the summer May-September.
  3. Zip lining. Montana White Water is the only co that offers zip lining in Gardiner.
  4. Hiking in and around Yellowstone. Our favorite trail is Beavers Ponds that starts in Mammoth. It’s an easy few miles of walking around beautiful ponds. It was our first hike here in Yellowstone. Always carry a bear spray when you hike. Hike in groups. Make noise. Don’t cut corners. We provide bear spray for your convenience. Bear spray is not a toy. Use with caution. For more info about hiking trails and safety information please stop by Yellowstone Association ( the last building in Gardiner before the gate to Yellowstone)or consult with a park ranger.
  5. Yellowstone Hot Springs is a few minutes from here to the north. It is a beautiful way to finish a day full of hiking or just exploring Yellowstone. Call ahead to check their hours as they change during the year. Open year around.
  6. Wildlife seeing. Take the Old Yellowstone road that starts at the school and finish at Corwin Springs, then turn right on the bridge and right on the highway to come back to Gardiner. You can see tons of animals ( antelopes and mountain sheep, elk and deer) and birds year around.
  7. Looking for a private guide. We highly recommend Mike Skelton with Yellowstone Wonders. You can reach him at 406-224-3561 and use a discount code CORRAL GUEST to book a tour.
  8. WINTER Snow coaches are available from Mammoth, WY to Old Faithful. Mammoth is 20 minutes from CORRAL VILLAS> YellowstoneNationalParkLodges.com for more information. Reservations are needed.
  9. Mammoth Hot Springs you can see year around. Stopping by and taking a loop through the Lower and Upper Terrasses will make the most beautiful photos and once in a lifetime sunset.
  10. CLOSED DUE to COVID 19 this year. Boiling River is like a jacuzzi in the middle of Yellowstone River. It is short 5 miles once you enter into the Park through the Gardiner gate. There is a sign and parking on both sides of the road.
  11. The road to Cooke City through Lammar Valley is open for vehicles year around. It is an easy loop for observing Bison, Elk, Wolves, Foxes and different species of wildlife animals in their natural habitat.
  12. SUMMER Grand Canyon and Waterfalls
  13. SUMMER Old Faithful.
  14. SUMMER SUMMER Grand Prismatic is another favorite of ours. A MUST STOP on both location the oversee hike to the top and terasses as well.
  15. And so much more to see and do in Yellowstone. Visitor’s Center and Yellowstone Association are must stops for all Park related questions- wild life, safety, hiking, tours, classes , tours and such.

Enjoy Yellowstone!

DON’Ts

  1. Don’t leave any food outside on the tables. That will attract bears or other wild animals . It is not safe. Garbage goes only to the green bearproof cans across from you.
  2. Don’t approach wildlife. They are dangerous.

FOOD

  1. The only grocery store in town Gardiner Market is fully stocked and offers big variety of all necessities and is a wonderful option while here. Costco is in Bozeman. So do Walmart, Co-Op and any other major food store. So stop by and stock up on food and drinks if you are planning on eating in.
  2. Enjoy 10% off any meal when you dine at our restaurant The CORRAL in Gardiner. Nominated and won Best ELK Burger in Gardiner by USA Today 10 Bests in 2017. Futures delicious burgers from Montana sourced beef, bison, elk.
